I am responsible for internal and external communications. My role has a lot to do with image handling and creation of marketing strategies and public relations to reflect our mission in the best way possible. My department is responsible for producing all the content that reaches our audiences, from our visitors to government entities that support us. I am fortunate to have a fantastic team with an expansive and fresh vision (...).
Is it growing acceptance of Latino art in New York?
It grows in acceptance and visibility, we see longer works in collections and exhibitions (...) We are one of the only museums that is actively collecting and displaying works of Latino artists. Right now we have an exhibition entitled "Figure and Form: Recent Adquisions to our Permanent Collection", in which over 50% are Latino. Some of the artists are David Antonio Cruz, Alessandra Exposito, Ernesto Pujol, Louis Mendez, Rigoberto Torres, Chuck Ramirez, Luis Cruz Azaceta and William-Villalongo.
As Salvadoran, you can influence to reach artists exhibit there?
My role is based in communications, therefore I am not involved in the field of curating. What I can say is that our curator, Rocio Aranda-Alvarado, visited El Salvador and have shown work? Several Salvadorans.
What is your role in Y.ES Contemporary?
I am part of the board, support and strongly believe our mission to create opportunities for contemporary artists Salvadoran advance their artistic practice and collaborate with artists, curators, collectors,? Gallery owners and the press inside and outside El Salvador.
After living more than five years in New York, what is the best and the worst?
Here I had the opportunity to train as a professional. It is a place with many opportunities at the same time requires hard work and discipline. That pushes you always give the best of you.
What was your experience at the Global Youth Summit at the UN?
It was at the top of Nexus Global where I had the opportunity to share with young people who have the desire to improve the world in a tangible and immediate. We have it at home. My future husband is an architect and this piece of Ronald was perfect for him, great to add to our collection gift. How do you go to El Salvador to the? Distance?
I grew up in El Salvador, my family and several of my friends are there. We communicate daily and visit often. Salvadoran be one of my greatest pride and have the opportunity to give more visibility to my country is one of my greatest responsibilities.
